Power Plant IM (BE)

Power plant IM is one of the many now closed coal powered power plants previously/currently owned by Belgium’s Electrobel.

I ideally wanted to visit the plant just to see the cooling tower (it’s pretty unique in design) compared to others i’ve seen, however while in the area it would be silly really not to see the plant while it’s so open.

A lot of damage has occurred in there over the last 6 months however theres still enough to look at for a hour or so and i’m glad i’ve seen it before it gets torn down from the inside.

The plant was mothballed in the early 2000’s however due to growing pressure on energy companies to rid themselves of polluting coal powered plants the station did not resume and was taken permanently offline in 2006.
