I stumbled across this old Hotel and restaurant + skittle alley (not quite full size bowling) the rest stop was opened in 1986 and offered travellers somewhere to eat and sleep if required and closed roughly around 2011, information is short on this place. Continue reading

Labyrinth School (BE)

The Labyrinth school owes it’s name to the massively long corridors linking the different buildings of the school.

The building was under demolition or redevelopment when we visited, not many features remain except one of the large corridors and the gym. Continue reading

Zeche Hugo (DE)

Zeche Hugo is a former coal mine in western Germany Established in 1873 the mine continued to operate until 2000, at which time the coal seam had been almost fully exploited. At it’s height in the 1960’s it employed 5000 and excavated 3.5 millions tons a year. It operated out of 8 shafts and eventually reached a depth of 1200 metres. Continue reading

Zeche E (Ewald) (DE)

Zeche (Mine) E which stands for Ewald is an abandoned colliery in western Germany.

The preparations for the main shaft at the mine started planning in 1872, by 1876 the main shaft’s depth was 464m which at the time was one of the deepest mine shafts in Germany which was only beaten when the shaft was drilled further in 1884 to a depth of 624m. Continue reading

Nettle Prison (DE)

Water on an explore is usually bad (unless you’re draining) however when you are trying to get across a 6m wide moat it’s more of a problem.. Especially when the tree you are trying to walk across is full of moss and branches which snap as soon as you look at them never mind when you grab them for dear life. Continue reading

The day we visited the hospital the area was thick with snow (made it useful for spotting security tracks (of which there where a few)) but also added a few lol’s for access and traveling to the site via the most dodgy roads ever. Continue reading
